The highly acclaimed and anticipated Fireband movie by Sony Entertainment will be released in U.S theaters June 21, 2024. The historical drama-thriller is based on a true story set in 16th Century Tudor England and stars Alicia Vikander and Jude Law. Production of the film was in England where the film was released in 2023.
The movie premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2023 and was nominated for the Palme d’Or award. Firebrand has all the elements of a good film, an excellent story, suburb director and A-list actors with heart pounding suspense and intrigue. Critics have called Firebrand “electric, riveting, terrifying, intriguing, suspenseful, compelling, and explosive.” High praise has been bestowed on Alicia Virkander, Jude Law, and Simon Russell Beale for their acting in the film.

The film is a true story set in Tudor England in the 16th Century. It is about the dangerous relationship of ailing and paranoid King Henry VIII (1491-1547) and his last wife Catharine Parr (1512-1548). Catharine Parr reluctantly agrees to become the sixth wife of the tyrannical King. This carries great risk, her five predecessors were either vanquished, beheaded, or died. Henry’s courtiers perceive her to be a threat and begin to cast doubts on her fidelity to turn the King against her.
Queen Catherine is named Regent while the King is away fighting a war overseas. When he returns he turns his fury on the growing radical Protestants charging Catharine’s childhood friend with treason and burns her at the stake. Catherine finds herself fighting for her own survival. Queen Catherine Parr’s fate was to change the British kingdom forever.
