An independent heartfelt drama film that celebrates American family farmers will be released in 1,000 U.S. theaters January 31, 2025. The film is a tribute to rural American family and community traditions, hard work, strength, and perseverance.
The movie is directed by Anders Lindwall and stars Craig T. Nelson. The film is based on the original screenplay “God Loves the Green Bay Packers”. Culvers Restaurant’s Thank You Famers Project and the Green Bay Packers NFL football team supported the making of the film and are promoting it. Production of the movie was shot in Wisconsin with help from the Green Bay Packers, Culvers, and local community people as extras in the film.
The movie took two first place awards at the Heartland International Film Festival in Indianapolis in October, 2024. On Friday, January 3, 2025, the movie was presented at a special gala event at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin sponsored by the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin based Culver’s Restaurant chain, and the National Future Farmers of America Organization.
Craig T. Nelson said, “I felt a real connection to it because the Nelson family farm has been a working farm since the Civil War and my wife’s family were also farmers.” Justin Wolf, Green Bay Packers director of corporate partnership sales and activations, said in a release. “We are proud to be part of a story celebrating supporting one another and showcasing the critical role that family farms play across our great state of Wisconsin and beyond.”
The story is set in the 1990s about a Wisconsin fourth generation dairy farmer Buck, played by Craig T. Nelson, whose farm is facing bank foreclosure. Buck refuses to give up his legacy without a fight. His granddaughter Jenny, played by Madison Lawler, works on the farm but has dreams of a music career. She meets a famous musician, played by Brandon Sklemar, who is willing to help her career, but she would have to leave her grandfather’s farm.
Buck places a Hail Mary bet, by betting everything to save the farm, on the Green Bay Packers making it to the Super Bowl.
Director Anders Lindwall and his brother Davin fought for this film. They grew up as Green Bay Packer fans and are grandsons of a dairy farmer. Lindwall is known for Reclamation of Davis Simms, Pop Revolution, and Jaded.
