The Frick Art Collection, NYC

When I move to New York City I lived in Battery Park on Manhattan. As I discovered the City I came upon Frick Art Collection. I was amazed at the private collection of so many famous artists and works of art. It is hard to grasp that this mansion with is collection worth $billions was the home of just one family. When friends same from out of town I delighted in taking them there to be in awe of the great works of art in a quaint setting.

The mansion was home to Henry Clay Frick (149 to 1919) who was a wealthy American industrialist. He founded the H.C. Frick & Company and became the chairman of Carnegie Steel which became U.S. Steel. The Frick Collection was donated to the public and the house was converted into a museum in 1935.

The Frick Collection has 1,500 pieces of art. It includes works by such famous arts as Rembrandt, Vermeer, Goya, Titian, Whistler, Turner, Monet, Manet, Degas, Renoir, Holbein, Bruegel, Bellini, El Greco, Michealangelo, Van Eyck, Gilbert, Gainsborough, Velasquez, Reynolds, Van Dyck, Bernini, Francesca, la Tour, and others.
